Peachy Keen

If I’d realized how unbelievably stunning peach blossoms were, I’d have planted one a long time ago. I might have to do that come winter. Just imagine — gorgeous blooms AND delicious fruit… I’ll ponder on that as I’m working in the garden this spring. I took these images while at Natural Gardener just over a week ago.

  1. Meredith, you solved a inquiry for me in your last photo. I saw this moth in a photo I took last year and had no idea what it was. It was on my Duranta. Great photo BTW.

  2. You’re right Meredith, peach blossoms are beautiful! And they also produce the most juicy and delicious fruit. I’ve been wanting to plant a couple peach trees in my backyard, but still don’t have an area prepped for it yet. I’m considering planting ‘Redhaven’ and Lemon Elberta ‘Gleason’ varieties. How about you?

  3. Love your last photo especially, with the moth and its curly stylus! My peach has been in bloom the last couple weeks, hoping that the pollinators have found it despite the cool rainy weather. I have it fan-trained against the south side of our garage, so the pink blossoms really stand out against the pale-yellow wall. Last year we got 100 peaches off the one tree!

  4. Our almond tree blooms with similar dazzle. I have gone back and forth about peaches, wondering whether we would eat enough of them to justify allotting some of our little space to such a tree.
But the images here are a fine argument in favor of a peach.
